Man dies after snowmobile crash in Kalkaska County
KALKASKA COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) --A St. Johns man is dead after a snowmobile crash in Coldsprings Township.
It happened on Manistee Lake about three-quarters of a mile north of Sands Park.
Kalkaska County Sheriff Pat Whiteford says the department received a call just before 7 a.m. Sunday from Sandy Evers saying her husband, Nick Evers was last seen around midnight.
Investigators say Evers was ejected, directly into a tree, from his snowmobile after crashing into an embankment on the shoreline.
Deputies say Evers was pronounced dead at the scene even though he was wearing a helmet.
Deputies say speed and alcohol were both factors in the crash.
