Man extradited from Alaska to face sex charges

An Alpena County man has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor.

An Alpena County man was charged Wednesday with sexual assault and deputies say there were multiple victims.

Joel James was arraigned in the 88th District Court for two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct as well as accosting a minor for immoral purposes.

The investigation into James, previously from Canada, lasted 18 months. KTVF reported that James was arrested in Alaska back in Aug. 2013 and then extradited to Alpena.

According to Deputy Michael Lash of the Alpena County Sheriff's office, multiple victims have been found in connection to this case reaching back to the early 1990's.
