A man was extradited from Scottsdale, Arizona to Charlevoix to stand trial on sexual assault and child abuse charges.
According to the Charlevoix County Prosecutor, Floyd Bernath Crisman, 60, was charged with five counts of criminal sexual conduct in the fifth degree.
He is also charged with criminal sexual conduct first degree and child abuse fourth degree.
Crisman was arrested last week in Scottsdale and was extradited to Charlevoix to stand trial.
According to the prosecutor, these charges have been pending since 1994 when Crisman fled the area and did not show up for court.
Crisman is being held without bond in the Charlevoix County Jail.
"I have to give a great thanks to our victim advocate, Libby Mikulski, for never forgetting about this case and the victims, and also to Mike Wheat who tracked down Mr. Crisman and brought him back to Michigan to stand trial," said Allan Telgenhof, Charlevoix County Prosecutor. "It was a complete team effort between my office, the Sheriff's Department and the Boyne City Police Department who investigated the original charges."
Crisman is scheduled to be in court again on November 26.
