      Man hurt in cannon blast

      Wexford County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a home on North 41 Road in Liberty Township just north of Manton where a 48-year-old man was injured after his homemade cannon went off while he was loading it.

      Emergency crews responded Sunday after a caller reported that a man was severely injured while lighting a cannon in Wexford County.

      Deputies from the Wexford County Sheriff's Department were dispatched around 2:30 pm to a home on North 41 Road in Liberty Township just north of Manton, where a 48-year-old man was injured after his homemade cannon went off while he was loading it. Officials said the cannon was used for making noise.

      Officials said the man suffered serious injuries including severe burns to his hands and face. The man was flown to Munson Medical Center for treatment. His current condition is unknown.

      The incident is still under investigation and will be turned over to the Wexford County Prosecutor's Office for review.
