Man jumps out of ambulance after revived from suspected drug overdose
WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 28-year-old Lake City man who was revived with Narcan after a suspected drug overdose found himself behind bars.
It happened Wednesday around 2 p.m. at the Arby's in Cadillac.
Michigan State Police say they were called to Arby's for a report of an unconscious man in a vehicle. A trooper arrived and quickly recognized the signs of an opioid overdose. A dose of Narcan was administered and the man became responsive.
Northflight EMS arrived on scene and took over treatment. While the suspect was being taken to the hospital, he removed his IV and jumped out the back door of the ambulance.
Troopers say the man was also known to be in violation of his court ordered parole. The trooper who had first treated the suspect found him a few blocks away.
The man was arrested, treated at the hospital and then taken to the jail on a charge of parole violation.
Additional charges will be sought through the prosecutor's office including a charge of possession of heroin.
MSP says this is the second time in two months a trooper saved a person's life that was suffering from drug overdose.
