Man questioned in missing person case turned homicide investigation
CRAWFORD COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A search for a missing Crawford County woman turned into a homicide investigation on Wednesday.
The Crawford County Sheriff's Department is interviewing Michelle Kukulski's estranged husband.
The undersheriff says the last time anyone heard from Michelle was when she was on her way to her husband's house in Crawford County to pick up some things for her child.
Deputies and state police troopers blocked off part of a snowy M-72 in Crawford County and put Michelle's estranged husband in one of their patrol cars to bring him in for questioning.
Wednesday morning, before the case turned into a homicide investigation, Sheriff Kirk Wakefield said you can never rule out foul play in situations like this.
"You just never know, until you start tracking down leads and figure out what direction heading to, you can never rule that out,” Wakefield said.
Michelle Kukulski's blue Chrysler Town and Country was found down state, closer to Detroit, but Michelle still has not been found.
Anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Michelle Kukulski is asked to contact the Crawford County Sheriff's Department at 989-344-3228.
