MSP: Man uses popular messaging app to share child porn
MANISTEE, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Manistee man was arrested on child pornography charges after allegedly using a messaging app to share pictures.
Joseph Jerome Dumas, 63, was arrested Tuesday morning after turning himself into the Manistee County Court. He was arraigned and charged with one count of child sexually abusive activity distributing or promoting, five counts of possession of child sexually abusive material and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
The investigation into Dumas began in August when North Dakota detectives reported Dumas had sent pictures to one of their investigation subjects using the messaging app KIK.
Dumas posted a $50,000 bond. His preliminary examination is set for Oct. 10. He faces up 14 years in prison.
