Manistee residents face power outage

Over 4,000 people in the Manistee area will be without power until around 9 p.m. tonight according to Consumers Energy.

Over 4,000 people in the Manistee area are without power this afternoon.

The outage is concentrated in the City of Manistee and extends to Filer City.

Officials from Consumers Energy say the outage was caused by a transformer leak at the Manistee substation this afternoon.

Crews are on their way to repair the transformer right now. Consumers Energy expects power to be restored by 9 p.m. Wednesday.

The Little River Casino is opening a cooling center with help from the American Red Cross. The center will be open for the next 24 hours for those who need cooling help. The casino is located at 2700 Orchard Highway north of Manistee.

Glen's Market in Manistee is using generators and will be open with ice and other necessities for sale.
