Mark Unger murder case could reopen
A 2003 murder case in Benzie County could take a drastic turn this week.
A Circuit Court judge in Manistee is hearing testimony from two doctors that could reopen the murder case of Mark Unger. The Detroit-area man was found guilty in 2006 in the death of his wife, Florence.
The couple was vacationing at a resort in Benzie County in 2003 when Florence's body was found in Lower Herring Lake. Unger was charged with pushing his wife into the water after she fell from a boathouse rooftop deck. Unger maintained his wife's death was an accident.
7&4 News is told the judge is hearing testimony from a doctor in Scotland by teleconference Wednesday. The doctor did not testify at the 2006 murder trial. The case was moved to Manistee County in 2006 after a storm knocked out power to the Benzie County Courthouse.
The hearing is expected to continue through Friday.
