Mason Co. prepares for potential heavy snow
MASON COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) — Thursday evening crews were preparing the roads for the potential snow storm expected to hit Ludington late Thursday night into Friday morning.
Mason County Road Commission crews were getting the salt and sand mix ready to put down on the roads Friday morning.
Nearly two dozen trucks with the county will be out starting around six o’clock. The main thing they’re concerned about is possible ice underneath the snow.
Road crews say while they’re out doing their part and they hope drivers on the roads do the same.
“I always say to slow down a little bit, keep a safe distance between you and the next vehicle especially in whiteout conditions,” said Eric Moody, Mason County Road Commission Superintendent. “You don’t know what the car in front of you is doing and 9 times out of 10 times they’re going to be putting their brakes on, it’s good to have that distance between the two vehicles.”
