The Mason County Sheriff is asking drivers to only travel in case of emergency.
The Mason County Road Commission is pulling plow trucks off all secondary roads to focus on primary roads and state highways.
M-116 towards the Ludington State Park only has one lane open in most locations due to drifting snow. The Department of Natural Resources is asking people to not travel to the state park today.
Sheriff Kim Cole said the the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners does have the authority to declare a local state of emergency and has not done so yet. The option remains open.
