Match campaign ignites community support
A non-profit organization is sparking a match to raise money for people who canâ??t afford the needs to get by.
Benzie Area Christian Neighbors kicked off its dollar-for-dollar â??Sparks Campaignâ?? Thursday night.
So far, BACN has over $21,000 in donations and hopes to go beyond the grant of $45,000 to raise $110,000.
BACN provides a variety of services to its neighbors from transportation to education. They host an adult learning lab through Michigan Works.
â??We give them what they need to sustain themselves and to make it through the month," said executive director, Gerri VanAntwerp. "Now we want to teach them how to fish, how to take care of themselves and how to promote their own self sufficiency."
BACN also plans to use the money raised to help people who are in need of financial assistance, utility payments, and prescription help.
