Morales' attorney wants bond for defendant, says she's not a threat
The attorney for Alyce Morales, the young girl accused of killing her newborn child, is asking for bond.
According to Jesse Williams, the attorney, Morales' family, who is from Cicero, Illinois, is willing to re-locate someone to be with her in the Benzie County area.
Williams says Morales is not a threat to the community.
The judge said he will consider a plan that is agreed to be the defense and the prosecution.
Morales entered a not guilty plea to the charges of one count of open murder in the death of her newborn baby at the Platte River Campground.
Morales was arrested after giving birth at the campground in July. Investigators said Morales had been hiding her pregnancy from her parents and gave birth alone in a tent while vacationing with relatives.
Williams, however, claims her mother knew she was pregnant.
The Medical Examiner and the doctor who performed the autopsy on the baby testified that the child died from blunt force trauma to the head and the abdomen.
