Morel hunting? Experts to educate community at free class

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- May is Morel Mushroom Month in Michigan and to celebrate, the Botanic Garden and Historic Barns Park is hosting a special Morel Mushroom class. At the class, Morel Mushroom expert’s Jim Moses and Linda Grigg of Forest Garden Organic Farm will explain the different types of Michigan mushrooms, where to find Morel mushrooms and how to spot a fake Morel mushroom.The speakers will also share how to find them and how to tell if they are safe to eat.Wednesday evening's class is free to the public but the Botanic Garden and Historic Barns Park will be accepting donations to help fund its program.If you would like to learn more about the mushrooms you may discover while enjoying outdoor springtime adventures the class begins Wednesday at 7p.m. inside the Botanic Garden and Historic Barns Park’s visitor center on the second floor.For more information, click here.
