      Mother charged in infant daughter's April death

      Heather Host, 26, from Iosco County, was charged with homicide - involuntary manslaughter, first degree child abuse and lying to a police officer.

      A mother was arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of her 5-month-old daughter.

      Heather Host, 26, from Iosco County, was charged with homicide - involuntary manslaughter, first degree child abuse and lying to a police officer.

      The charges stem from an incident at Host's home in Grant Township in late April, according to Michigan State Police.

      Police said the victim was Host's infant daughter, Amiah Muszall.

      The involuntary manslaughter charge carries a maximum penalty of up to 15 years in prison, while first degree child abuse carries a maximum penalty of life in prison.

      The charge of lying to a police officer carries a penalty of no more than four years and/or a fine of no more than $5000.
