Mother who left daughter home alone pleads not guilty
The mother who left her daughter home alone while she went to a nearby brewery plead not guilty to charges of child abuse and operating while intoxicated.
Sarah Angel Ashley, 29, of Garfield Township, was in court Monday morning on charges of fourth degree child abuse and operating while intoxicated. She pled not guilty to both charges.
Ashley was arrested after police say she left her 6-year-old daughter unattended at their apartment at the Arbors of Traverse for hours. A neighbor said she and a friend found the girl screaming in the parking lot looking for her mom.
After returning home later, the mother blew a .08 blood alcohol content. She was arrested for drunk driving and second degree child abuse. The second charge has since been reduced to fourth degree child abuse.
She is scheduled to be in court for a pretrial conference on September 25.
