Mecosta County Sheriff's Department responded to a two vehicle personal injury accident on Saturday at 165th Ave. and Alma Lake Rd. in Grant Township.
The incident occurred around 5 p.m. when a caller had advised that a motorcycle had collided with a moped.
Authorities say the driver of the motorcycle was heading northbound on 165th when he observed several mopeds traveling southbound. The driver thought that they were in his lane and attempted to slow down, which caused his rear tire to hit loose gravel and slide out from under him. The driver then laid his motorcycle down and it hit the moped.
Authorities say the driver and passenger of the moped, who are from the Flint area, were transported to Mecosta County Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. The driver of the motorcycle, from Grand Rapids, was also transported to MCMC for non life threatening injuries. Both drivers were cited for the accident. Alcohol was not a factor.
Deputies were assisted by the Big Rapids Fire Department and Mecosta County EMS.
