      Motorcyclist killed after hitting deer in Oceana County

      A motorcyclist was killed after hitting a deer in Oceana County Wednesday morning.

      A motorcyclist was killed after hitting a deer in Oceana County Wednesday morning.

      According to the Oceana County Sheriff's Department, a passer-by found him unconscious.

      Larry L. Tingley, 62, of Hesperia, had been traveling east on E. Garfield Rd. near S. 154th Avenue in Ferry Township when he hit a small deer and was thrown from his 2005 Harley Davison motorcycle. Police said he suffered very serious injuries.

      Tingley was taken to Gerber Hospital in Fremont before being flown to Spectrum Hospital in Grand Rapids.

      He was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at Spectrum.

      Officials said Tingley was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
