Motorcyclist leads police on two-county chase

At times the motorcycle reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour.

A Cadillac man was arrested Friday after leading police on a 22-mile chase through two counties.

A Michigan State Police trooper spotted a motorcycle, driven by Charles Payne, speeding on northbound US 131 near East 12 3/4 Road.

Troopers say Payne was driving 90 miles per hour in a 70 mile-per-hour zone.

When Payne didn't stop, the chase started, going into Grand Traverse County and eventually back into Wexford County.

At times the motorcycle reached speeds up to 120 miles per hour.

When Payne ended up on a private driveway, the homeowner stepped in and blocked the road with his pickup truck.

Payne tried to leave, but was forced to stop.

He was formally charged Monday with fleeing a police officer and is scheduled to be in court again on June 17.
