Road construction near the North Western State Trial will impact the flow for trail users on July 23 through July 24.
The road construction will take place near the new North Western State Trail segment between Petoskey and Alanson. This will cause a detour onto Hiawatha Trail between the trail crossing of Hiawatha and Hendricks streets until the culvert is replaced.
According to the Emmet County Road Commission, users will be detoured onto Hiawatha Trail between the trail crossing of Hiawatha and Hendricks streets.
The Hiawatha Trial will still be a gravel surface, but the road commission will keep it as smooth as possible.
"Please use caution while riding in this area," says Jeff Winegard, executive director of the Top Michigan Trails Council. "And always remember to obey all traffic signs and signals."
