Off duty officer confronts liquor store burglar

An alert off duty officer heard the sound of breaking glass and ended up confronting a liquor store burglar.

The Richfield Township Public Safety Department received a call of a breaking and entering at the BS Liquor store at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

An off duty Public Safety Officer heard the sound of glass breaking and went outside to investigate the noise. The off duty Officer noticed a person trying to break into the BS Liquor store located at 938 N. St Helen road, St Helen, MI.

When the suspect was confronted by the officer he fled on foot. The building was secured and Richfield Township Officers along with the Roscommon County Sheriffâ??s Deputy were called to the scene. During the investigation, the officerâ??s and deputyâ??s recovered some stolen items and clothing worn by the suspect during the crime.

The Richfield Township K-9 was used to track the suspect back to his residence along with Officers. After further investigation a white male age 23 that is currently on probation for an unrelated crime was arrested for B&E and probation violation, due to intoxication. The suspect was lodged at the Roscommon County Jail without incident.
