Officials 'suspicious' of cause of two recent fires
Officials are investigating two suspicious fires in Grand Traverse County.
A passer-by reported the fire on Jewel Road around 7 p.m. Friday night. On the way to the fire, a deputy noticed smoke coming from a pole barn on Ramsay Road.
Deputies report the fire started in a pile of hay, but was quickly put out by firefighters.
The fire on Jewel Road was at a mobile home and did damage the structure.
The fires are now on the list of several other suspicious fires in Grant Township in the past few years.
"Due to the proximity and location of where these two occurred and the fact that they were essentially going at about the same time raises our suspicious," said Captain Randy Fewless.
The cause of the fires has not yet been determined, but officials do report that no one was hurt.
Investigators are still looking through the evidence.
