One killed, two injured in UTV rollover
LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A 19-year-old was killed and two others were injured after an UTV rollover in Elmwood Township.
It happened Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. in a field of off South High Point Drive.
According to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, a 26-year-old Traverse City man was driving a Polaris Razor side by side UTV with two female passengers. The passengers were two sisters from Traverse City ages 19 and 23.
We are told the driver was trying to turn quickly that caused the UTV to roll.
The 19-year-old Traverse City woman, identified as Kerstin Colmus, was pronounced dead at the scene. The 23-year-old woman passenger and the 26-year-old male driver were both taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The investigation into this rollover is continuing.
Deputies say the driver and passengers were not wearing seat belts or helmets.
The sheriff's office along with Elmwood Township Fire and Rescue, North Flight Ambulance and a DNR Officer all responded to the scene.
