One person critical after father and son's kayak overturns in Lake Michigan
A father and son are in Munson Hospital in Traverse City after being pulled from the cold waters of Lake Michigan Monday night.
The Glen Lake Fire Department tells 7 & 4 News that the pair's kayak overturned off Sleeping Bear Point.
Glen Lake emergency crews were able to get the father and son into their rescue boat.
A Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Traverse City lowered a basket down to the rescue boat and lifeflighted the son to Munson Hospital. The father was taken to shore and then transfered by ambulance to Munson Hospital.
A Coast Guard ship from Frankfort also helped in the rescue.
We are told the the pair were visiting northern Michigan and may have been kayaking back from the Manitou Islands when the accident happened.
