One person killed in mobile home fire

Crews are battling a mobile home fire in Traverse City.

One person is dead after a fast moving fire near Traverse City.

The fire started around 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Cherryland Mobile Home Park, which is near Garfield and South Airport Road.

50-year-old John Norberg was found in a bedroom of the mobile home and firefighters say it was full of clutter.

Neighbors said flames were as high as 30 feet when the fire started which prevented any rescue attempt.

"We just saw the whole trailer go up in flames and we were hoping that he wasn't in there," said neighbor Deb Pringle.

The cause is still under investigation.
