Organizers say 50th annual Alpenfest was a success

Organizers said they expected about five thousand people a day for the festival, but numbers were up from last year.

The 50th annual Alpenfest wrapped up Saturday with tons of fun events.

The festival had non-stop entertainment, but people also had the opportunity to go on carnival rides, eat and shop.

Festival organizers said this year was special because they invited back anyone that has been involved with Alpenfest in the last 50 years.

They were expecting around five thousand people a day and said the numbers were definitely up from last year.

â??Oh it's been fantastic,â?? said Alpenfest Board President Patt Dobrzekewski. â??With Tuesday being a raining cold day we were a little iffy on what the week would bring. It has turned out to be a great festival, the weather has held, we've had tons of people coming through town, and everyone's having a great week.â??

For the first time, the festival held fireworks as the finale of the festival Saturday evening over downtown Gaylord.
