Orozco sentenced to 6-20 years behind bars in NMC stabbing
The first of five suspects has been sentenced in the assault that took place on Northwestern Michigan College's campus in February.
Antonio Orozco was sentenced to 6 to 20 years in prison for the assault.
In April, Orozco pleaded guilty to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to rob while armed, while being a gang member.
Four other suspects have been charged in the assault.
Police say 21-year-old Ashley Day was set up a fake drug deal, 17-year-old Alyssa Rodriquez drove to and from the college and Jorge Alvarado, Jorge Vasquaz-Antonio, and Orozco jumped the victim, Dwight Thompson in order to steal his drugs.
Police say the suspects would then sell those drugs for money.
