Over 2,000 signatures added to petition for S.S. Badger to be National Historic Landmark
Leaders in both port cities for the S.S. Badger are asking the public to sign a petition to designate the Badger as a National Historic Landmark.
Over 2,000 signatures have been added to the petition so far, asking Sally Jewell, the Secretary of the Interior, to approve the designation for the S.S. Badger, the Lake Michigan car ferry carrying passengers from Ludington to Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
Any signed petitions online will be forwarded automatically to Jewell.
A NHL designation means the Badger would get extra protections from development and may make it eligible for preservation grants and assistance.
