Police investigate fraud case after TC Tourism billed more than $5K from AT&T

Police are investigating after the Traverse City Tourism Office received a bill for more than $5,000 from AT&T.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Police are investigating after the Traverse City Tourism Office received a bill for more than $5,000 from AT&T.

According to the President of TC Tourism, someone created an account under their name and bought roughly 50 iPhones equaling about $5,300.

We're told it's unclear exactly how or when it happened but a report has been filed with police.

AT&T waived responsibility of the bill.
