Police are asking for help from the community to find the person or people responsible for setting a structure on fire in Mecosta County.
Authorities were called to the fire on Arthur Road in Sheridan Township around 1:30 Saturday morning. The buildings involved in the fire were a pole barn and a shed.
The investigation has revealed the possibility of arson, breaking and entering, a hate crime and malicious destruction of property. Authorities report that racial slurs were written on the home which did not catch fire, and that it was not occupied at the time of the fire.
