Police investigate suicide attempt at jail, third in less than two weeks
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Police are investigating after another suicide attempt at the Grand Traverse County Jail.
It happened around 6:40 p.m. Saturday and investigators said this is the second suicide attempt in one week.
Investigators said a deputy was doing rounds when she saw the 29-year-old inmate with a blanket over his head while laying in his bed.
The deputy said she went into the cell when the inmate didn't respond.
Reports show the inmate was found trying to choke himself with his own hands.
Investigators said the deputy was able to stop the attempt and there were no injuries.
On Wednesday, February 28, an inmate committed suicide was found hanging in the shower of her jail cell.
