The Michigan State Police Alpena and Gaylord posts are attempting to identify the owners of recovered stolen property. They believe the items were stolen from Alcona County and include two motorcycles and numerous other items.
The items were recovered while police were investigating a group of breaking and entering suspects who have been targeting ORVs, motorcycles, and tools. On June 11, while following a tip, Alpena troopers located a suspect at a residence in Wolverine. The suspect had been towing a trailer filled with stolen ORVs. Troopers identified the owners and determined the thefts had not been reported. A joint investigation was launched with Gaylord post troopers, which linked the suspect to another unreported breaking and entering.
A search of the suspect's residence uncovered more stolen property. It appears that the suspects dispose of stolen items quickly, so most of the items recovered during this investigation may have been stolen within the last week. Since some of these incidents involve vacation properties and unoccupied storage buildings, the thefts may not have been discovered yet.
So far, three suspects will be charged and additional arrests are possible. If you have any information about these incidents or you believe you are a victim, you are encouraged to call the Michigan State Police.
