Police searching for people, vehicle after man critically injured
A downstate man is recovering after police say he fell next to a SUV while running alongside it in a Traverse City alley.
It happened around 2:30 a.m. Saturday east of the Union Street Station bar.
Witnesses saw the occupants of a dark SUV talking to a group of people standing near the alley.
A short time later a 21-year-old Ann Arbor man was seen running alongside the vehicle as it drove down the alley.
Witnesses saw the victim fall and tumble next to the SUV as it continued to drive toward Cass Street.
The vehicle is being described as a dark SUV with four or five passengers inside with African American men sitting in the driver and front seat passenger seats.
Part of the SUV was found at the scene. Investigators believe the vehicle is a dark metallic blue Chevrolet or GMC SUV, or possibly a Tahoe or Yukon that's missing a driver's side door handle.
