Update: As of 5:30pm, US 127 northbound and southbound lanes are now open. The conditions are still poor due to the windy conditions and blowing snow, so please drive with caution.
The Isabella County Sheriff's Office is asking drivers to avoid a portion of US-127 in Isabella County.
According to the Sheriff's Office, US-127 from the Gratiot/Isabella line through the South Mt. Pleasant exit has been closed.
Both the northbound and southbound lanes have been closed due to several crashes.
The Michigan State Police report at least 30 vehicles were involved, including a fuel tanker that hit several other cars.
Only minor injuries were reported and no fuel was spilled.
State Police expect the road to remain closed for several hours while the fuel tanker's cargo is unloaded to another truck.
