Power outage strikes busy business corridor

A downed power line is being blamed for power outage that knocked out service to a busy stretch of US 31 in Garfield Township.
The first reports came in shortly after 6pm. TCLP began making repairs shortly after the outage began, but businesses such as Meijer and shops in the Horizon Outlet Center were left having to rely on generators or close their doors completely.
Traffic lights were also left without service which led to delays and back ups for drivers. Grand Traverse County 911 reminds all drivers that an out of service traffic light should be treated as a four way stop by motorists.
At this time, we do not have an estimate as to when service will be restored.
