Public Open House held for viewing of Boardman Lake TART Trail completion plans

The TART Trail staff showed off the maps and drawings of what the trail would look like once complete during a public open house Wednesday.

GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- Community members were able to learn more about the plans to complete the Boardman Lake TART Trail in Traverse City.

The TART Trail staff showed off the maps and drawings of what the trail would look like once completed during a public open house Wednesday.

The final proposed segment is a mile and a half long along the west side of the lake.

TART Trail officials have been working with landowners, businesses and people who live in the area to get to this point in the project.

"I think it will be a great asset to the community," said traverse City resident John Bercini. "It's very rare that you find a public trail system going around a large lake like this. It's rare and unusual also in a town of this size."

The Boardman Lake Trail was first conceptualized 25 years ago.

This final segment would complete the 5-mile trail around Broadman Lake.
