An unexpected visitor was found curled up next to a building in Cheboygan County by a resident who was mowing his lawn.
According to the Cheboygan County Humane Society, a 4 1/2 foot python was found on Tuesday afternoon.
The Cheboygan County Department of Public Safety was able to capture the python and the humane society came and picked it up.
The humane society took the python to a local vet. The vet determined that the python was healthy.
The humane society is asking for the owner to claim their python as they believe it is someone's pet. According to Mary Talaske, the Director of the Cheboygan County Humane Society, there have been a couple of people claiming to be the owner.
The humane society will hold the python until Friday. Proof needs to be shown before handing over the python.
If not, the python will be turned over to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources as an invasive species.
Mary Talaske, Director, says that after many, many years working at the humane society they have never had a python as one of their guests.
