Ric's Food Center in Interlochen closing after 35 years
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- It's been a staple in the community for decades, but in a few weeks, Ric’s Food Center will be closing its doors.
While there are five Ric's stores throughout the state, the Interlochen location has been there for 35 years.
The owner says closing this store was a financial decision, and that the retail market place has really changed.
She says their staff has been great trying to keep sales up but at the end of the day there just isn't room for more than one grocery store in Interlochen.
“It's been a great 35 years for us,” said owner Monica Reynolds. “You know we love the community, we have just excellent staff here, many of who have been here a couple decades. It was a difficult decision but one that we ultimately had to make.”
Reynolds says they are working to help find their staff positions elsewhere and that she'll now focus on her other four locations.
A ‘going out of business’ sale will begin next week, with the doors likely closing for good the first week of November.
