      Rothbury man kicks out windows of police car after being arrested for assault

      A 40-year-old Rothbury man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend as well as assaulting a police officer and kicking out the window of the patrol car.

      A 40-year-old Rothbury man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend as well as assaulting a police officer and kicking out the window of the patrol car.

      According to the Michigan State Police, troopers were called to Rothbury where a woman said she had been repeatedly assaulted by her long-term boyfriend.

      State Police reported the woman needed medical treatment and was taken to Lakeshore Hospital in Shelby.

      After speaking to the woman, troopers went to the man's home in Grant Township where they told the suspect he was under arrest. While arresting the man, he kicked one of the officers in the leg.

      He also kicked out the window in the patrol car while being taken to jail.

      The man is facing charges of aggravated domestic assault, assaulting a police officer and malicious destruction of police property.

      The suspect's name is being withheld until he is formally arraigned.
