Safe holding pills, jewelry stolen from Chippewa County home

Two men were arrested after allegedly stealing a safe from a Chippewa County home.
Joseph Edwin Smith, 37, and Joshua Michael Lacoursiere, 24, were arrested after a robbery that happened Monday at a home in the Goetzville area.
The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office reports a home safe containing prescription pain medication and jewelry was stolen.
The Sault Ste. Marie police recovered the sale in a dumpster Wednesday afternoon. Deputies developed two suspects and seized additional evidence from two homes in Sault Ste. Marie.
Smith is being held on home invasion, safe burglary and a drug charge. Lacoursiere was charged with obstructing a criminal investigation, destroying evidence and larceny from a building.
Deputies are expecting additional charges.
