Sand Lake man killed in stabbing

A 28-year-old Sand Lake man was killed in a stabbing Monday evening.
According to the Newaygo County Sheriff, deputies arrived on the scene at the home on 124th St. in Ensley Township Monday evening to find a male victim laying in the entryway of the home with a stab wound to the chest.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was identified as Charles Franklin Rainey, 28, of Sand Lake.
Family members tell WOOD-TV that Rainey was killed by his girlfriend who claims she stabbed him in self-defense.
Two occupants of the home were interviewed. No arrests have been reported at this time.
The incident will now be turned over to the Prosecutor's Office for review.
