Search underway for missing Wexford County man
Sheriff's deputies are investigating "new credible information" regarding a man reported as possibly missing and endangered Saturday, April 26 near Poplar Creek in South Branch Twp.
The man's wife reported him missing after he didn't come home at the expected time.
It is believed the missing man had intended to be on Poplar Creek to collect insect larva. His four wheeler was located on the shoulder of South 17 Road at the Poplar Creek early Saturday morning.
Deputies searched the area Saturday night along with K-9 units and a Department of Natural Resources Conservation officer.
Continued search efforts on the ground and in the air were made Sunday and Monday with the help of the Michigan Department of Corrections, Michigan State Police, Wexford County Emergency Management, the Federal Forest Service, the Lake County Sheriff's Office, the Mason County Sheriff's Office Mounted Division, and the Red Cross.
Deputies are investigating if the man left the area voluntarily with the help of another person.
The investigation is ongoing. We will pass along more information as it becomes available.
The Sheriff's Office does not believe the missing person is the unidentified man found in Grand Traverse County.
