LEELANAU COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU) -- A second person has now passed away following a head-on collision in Leelanau County.

It happened Monday around 12:16 p.m. on South West Bay Shore Drive about 1/2 mile north of East Cherrybend Road.

According to the Leelanau County Sheriff's Office, 85-year-old Roy Vomastek from Marion was driving a blue Kia south on South West Bay Shore Drive being followed by a large commercial utility vehicle, driven by a 37-year-old man from Kinglsey.

A tan Hyundai, driven by 26-year-old Dominic Holly from Mancelona, was heading north on South West Bay Shore Drive when he, for unknown reasons, crossed the center line entering the southbound lane.

The driver of the Kia tried to move right to avoid the collision but the two vehicles collided head on.

After the initial impact, the Hyundai was then hit by the utility vehicle which could not avoid the first collision.

The Hyundai driver, Holly, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The driver of the Kia, Vomastek, was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the utility vehicle was not injured.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. South West Bay Shore was closed to traffic for more than four hours while the initial investigation took place.
