Sheriff: Intoxicated man threatened woman with knife
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A woman working outside got a scare when according to Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Deputies a man attempted to stab her.
A Traverse City woman was working on landscaping around 5 p.m. Tuesday near the Northwestern Michigan Surgery Center on Park Forest Drive.
The woman reported a Hispanic man came out of a wooded area with a black folding knife, the two exchanged glances and he pointed the knife at her.
The man yelled expletives at her and then ran toward the tennis courts at Traverse City West Middle School, deputies said.
The woman called 911 and deputies started questioning people around the Meijer area to see if they knew the man.
Deputies found the suspect on Fitzhugh Drive and US-31 South.
Deputies patted down the suspect and found the black folding knife on him.
The victim identified the 22-year-old Traverse City man as the person who pointed the knife at her and the man was arrested for felonious assault.
The suspect had a preliminary breath test result of .21 blood alcohol content, deputies said.
According to deputies the suspect and victim didn't know each other.
