      Sheriff looking for inmate who walked away from jail

      Clarmont said Chaffin was being held on charges of shoplifting and was on work release when he walked away at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

      A Cheboygan County inmate walked away from from the jail while on a work release Friday morning.

      Sheriff Dale Clarmont is asking for the public's help in finding Donald Chaffin.

      Chaffin is described as a 37-year-old white male. He is 5'9" and weighs 130 pounds with brown hair, brown eyes and a thin build.

      Clarmont said Chaffin was being held on charges of shoplifting and was on work release when he walked away at 11:15 a.m. Friday.

      Clarmont said Chaffin is not a risk to the public.

      "Though Chaffin does not pose a risk to the public, we are still asking citizens if they do spot him, do not make an attempt to contact, but call 911," Clarmont said.
