Sheriff: Man arrested after crashing vehicle and driving away
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Traverse City man was arrested after Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Deputies said he crashed his vehicle and drove away.
Around 3 a.m. Tuesday someone called 911 after hearing sounds from a car crash near County Road 633 and Fryzelka Road in Grand Traverse County.
Deputies got to the area and found fresh damage to a guard rail and other evidence of a crash.
While investigating the crash deputies said they saw a vehicle go by with damage and paint close to the color of the guard rail.
Deputies said they tried to pull the driver over but he sped away on County Road 633, getting up to more than 80 miles per hour.
The driver went through a curve and crashed into a field near M-37, according to deputies.
The 25-year-old driver had a blood alcohol content of .16, deputies said.
He was arrested on charges of flee and elude, operating while intoxicated, leaving the scene of a crash and possession of marijuana.
