Sheriff warns of new phone scam
CHARLEVOIX COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- The Charlevoix County Sheriff is warning northern Michigan residents about a phone scam in the area.
Sheriff Chuck Vondra said the office has received reports of people getting calls from someone claiming to be a lieutenant from the Charlevoix County Sheriff's Office.
The subject tells the person they didn't reply to a jury summons and a warrant will be issued for the person's arrest, the sheriff said.
According to the sheriff, these calls are scams and asks anyone who gets a strange call to report it to law enforcement.
The sheriff said not to talk about personal information over the phone.
