Sheriff's office says woman who died after being hit was intoxicated
The Grand Traverse Sheriff's Office says the woman who was killed after a car hit her had been drinking earlier in the evening.
Lt. Christopher Barsheff says 52-year-old Mary Jo Sehl of Traverse City was hit when she was crossing U.S. 31 South on Saturday, June 14th around 11 p.m.
Sehl was walking from the Silver Shores Mobile Home Park, heading across the road to a home in Grawn.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, 60-year-old Thomas Synder from Traverse City, was not under the influence of alcohol and wasn't speeding at the time of the accident.
Lieutenant Barsheff says the sheriff's office is not requesting any charges to be filed against Synder since no laws were broken.
