Six-year-old hit by teen driver
A six-year-old boy was taken to the hospital Saturday night after being hit by a teen driver in Alpena.
Police say the child was hit by a car in a crosswalk when a 17-year-old Alpena man turned off of Second Avenue onto Miller Street.
The investigation showed the man had smoked marijuana prior to the crash. Marijuana was also found in the driver's vehicle. The man is being lodged at the Alpena County Jail for felony operating under the influence of drugs.
The child was taken to the Alpena Regional Medical Center with head trauma, and was later transported to University of Michigan Ann Arbor for further treatment.
Police are still investigating the crash.
