After removing it from the bay front plans, Traverse City leaders have now put the Spirit of Traverse City train up for sale. The city is taking proposals and bids from people or organizations. That means another city could buy the train if it wanted to, but the train could also be bought locally.
The city is accepting proposals until April 5. So far none have been received. There is no asking price on the train. The city is just going to wait and see what offers they get.
The news comes after months of heated debates about the train. A local group had fought to try and save the train, but ultimately city leaders voted to remove it from Clinch Park.
